1. Mandatory information on product labels
Decree 43/2017 stipulates that product labels must display the following information:
- Product name;
- Origin of goods;
- Name and address of the organization or individual responsible for the goods;
- Other details may vary depending on the nature of the goods.
2. The manufacturing date and expiration date are indicated on the product label.
According to Decree 43/CP, the production date and expiration date are recorded in the order of day, month, and year of the Gregorian calendar.
In cases where it is mandatory to include both the production date and the expiration date, and the product label already includes the production date, the expiration date may be indicated as a period from the production date. If the product label already includes an expiration date, the production date may be indicated as a period before use.
For goods that are repackaged, decanted, or repackaged, the regulations in Decree 43 of 2017 stipulate that the date of repackaging, decanting, or repackaging must be indicated, and the expiration date, calculated from the date of manufacture, must be used.
3. Mandatory information to be displayed on loose goods or goods with simple packaging.
Goods with simple packaging, loose goods such as food additives and chemicals, sold directly to consumers as stipulated in Decree 43/ND-CP of 2017, must publicly disclose the following information:
- Product name;
- Expiry;
- Name of the individual or organization responsible for the goods;
- Instructions for use;
- Safety warnings (if any).
Decree 43/2017/ND-CP regulating product labeling came into effect on June 1, 2017, and repeals Decree 89/2006/ND-CP.
