The social insurance contribution rate for households in 2019 increased by at least 21.600 VND/year, based on the increase in the base salary from 1,39 million VND to 1,49 million VND, effective from July 1, 2019.
Specifically, Decree 146/2018/ND-CP guiding the Health Insurance Law clearly stipulates: In a household, the first person contributes 4,5% of the basic salary to social insurance. From the second to the fourth person, they contribute 70%, 60%, and 50% respectively of the first person's contribution. From the fifth person onwards, they contribute 40% of the first person's contribution.
Accordingly, when the base salary increases, the social insurance contribution of the first person in a household is the highest (an additional 4.500 VND/month), and from the fifth person onwards, the contribution is the lowest (an increase of 1.800 VND/month).
