The larger the enterprise, the more pronounced the role of the general accountant. They are a valuable supporter of the chief accountant in preparing various reports, implementing tasks for the accounting department, supervising operations, and are a crucial link in the operation of the accounting system.
1. So, what is general accounting?
A general accountant is responsible for all accounting-related aspects within a business, guiding accounting specialists in various departments on accounting-related issues, and being accountable for accounting data from detail to summary.
2. Job Description
- Verify and cross-check departmental data, from detailed figures to large aggregated data.
- Verify the accounting entries, compare the balance sheet and ending balances to ensure that the figures are calculated correctly and match what the report states.
- Accounting for accounts such as revenue, cost of goods sold, expenses, depreciation, calculating the cost of products/services, and closing entries to prepare financial statements.
- Monitor the company's accounts receivable. Identify and propose provisions or solutions for handling difficult-to-collect accounts receivable.
- Prepare periodic financial reports (quarterly, annually) and detailed explanatory reports.
- Instructions on handling and recording accounting transactions for accounting department personnel.
- Explain and provide data to tax authorities, auditors, and inspectors as required.
- Compile and summarize accounting data when required for reconciliation or other requests from superiors.
- Store accounting data in the company's data warehouse for easy access and retrieval.
3. Candidate Requirements
3.1. Knowledge and experience
- Graduated from a regular university program with a major in Finance/Accounting/Auditing/Banking.
- Must have at least 05 years of experience in accounting, including at least 02 years in a similar position.
- Having a CPA/ACCA certification is an advantage.
- Mastering Accounting Standards, Accounting Systems, Accounting Law, Tax Law, etc.
- Good English skills (all four skills).
