The Chief Accountant is the head of a company's accounting department, responsible for overall management and advising the board of directors on financial matters, financial strategies, and accounting; assisting the board of directors in evaluating the effectiveness of business operations or investment projects. In addition, they direct, inspect, supervise, and adjust the work of accounting staff to maximize the efficiency of each individual employee and the entire accounting department.

2. Job Description

2.1. Organizing and operating the accounting department in a business.

  • Establish, guide, and implement accounting operations, prepare accounting documents and records, prepare financial statements, and prepare tax reports in accordance with Vietnamese law and tax regulations.
  • Develop an accounting information system and management accounting reporting system to support business planning, annual budgeting, and other management requirements.
  • Develop processes and methods for calculating product costs and advise the Board of Directors on inventory management to optimize production costs.
  • Managing the accounting system, accounting records, invoices, and business documents.
  • Provide complete accounting data and support the Board of Directors in compiling and analyzing costs; thereby making assessments and proposing appropriate solutions.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, provide documents, data, and explanations to tax authorities, auditors, and banks as required.

  • Collaborate with the company's leadership to organize the accounting and finance system, ensuring it is scientific and efficient – ​​clearly assigning tasks and responsibilities to each employee in the department.

3. Candidate Requirements

3.1. Knowledge and experience

  • Graduated from a regular university program with a major in Finance/Accounting/Auditing/Banking.
  • Must have at least 07 years of experience in accounting, including at least 03 years in a similar position.
  • Possess a Chief Accountant certification. CPA/ACCA certification is an advantage.
  • Experienced in tax settlement, tax refunds, advising the Director on tax law, investment law, and the Vietnamese accounting system.
  • Master accounting standards, accounting regulations, accounting law, tax law, etc.
  • Understanding the law: Investment, Trade, Civil Law, and legal documents related to the business sector.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in the … industry and on a large scale (200-500 people).
  • Good English skills (all four skills).

3.2. Skills

  • Excellent communication skills (communicating with internal staff and relevant authorities).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, and the ability to coordinate with other departments.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Excel.
  • Skills in organizing, planning, and developing strategies to accomplish assigned tasks.
