Live for your goals, and success will come to you.

A life without purpose is a aimless journey, leaving one's fate to chance and the random twists and turns of time. Those who live without purpose don't know where to focus their intellect and energy, easily missing opportunities. Essentially, it's a waste of life. Live for goals, and success will come to you.

1. If you believe you can do it, you will do it.

The phenomenon of believing in something and it coming true is called "prophecy happening on its own." Our minds are designed to constantly find ways to turn what we think about most into reality. Most people will never realize the immense potential they possess because they are unwilling to believe that they can do things that others consider impossible.

Those "impossible" tasks require more effort and focus, but once they're accomplished, the rewards, both financial and spiritual, will be well worth the effort. You may not be able to achieve everything you desire, but you won't accomplish anything if you don't believe in the goals that will lead to your success.

2. Tell yourself "I will" instead of "I cannot."

If you repeat something to yourself over and over, your subconscious will eventually accept it as reality. Once the subconscious accepts something as true, it will work hard to transform that idea into reality. You can take advantage of this by programming your mind with positive thoughts.

Affirm or motivate yourself to convince your subconscious that you are capable of doing anything you desire. Apply this method several times a day until it becomes a natural reflex to repeat these positive phrases whenever you begin to doubt yourself. Replace the phrase “I can’t” with “I will.”

3. If someone tells you that you can't do something, ask them what right they have to set limits for you.

Throughout your life's journey, you'll find that those who generously offer advice are often the least deserving. Busy, successful people have no interest in telling you how to live. They're busy with their own lives. Failures and mediocre people always have plenty of time. They even take pleasure in your failures, and when you experience temporary setbacks, they'll quickly say, "I told you so."

If someone tells you that what you're striving for is impossible or not worth your effort, take a good look at them and what they've accomplished in their lives. Chances are you'll find they haven't done much. Successful people are always optimistic. They're habitually successful because, long ago, they learned to listen to themselves and pursue their goals, rather than listening to those who want to see them fail.

4. If you continue on the path you're currently on, where will you be in 10 years?

Many people don't realize that great success is the result of many small successes combined, and it often takes a long time to achieve it. Truly successful people are those with foresight. They know that they must build upon each small success and constantly learn new and better ways of doing things. Regularly reviewing your progress is an essential part of goal setting. A goal is nothing more than a wish if you don't have a specific schedule to achieve it. Make sure your life plan includes short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals. Review your progress when you've achieved them and set bigger goals for yourself as you've progressed to a higher level. And take time for regular reflection to ensure you're on the right track.

5. Never destroy anything unless it's to prepare for building something better.

It's easy to thoughtlessly criticize or find fault in other people's work. But becoming a builder and creator of works of art, useful products, or profitable businesses is much harder. Make sure you are a builder, not a destroyer.

When criticizing the actions or work of others—children, employees, or those you are responsible for—ensure your criticism is always positive and focused on actionable goals or opportunities for improvement, not personal attacks. Offer specific suggestions for them to implement and concentrate on their potential for success.
